Bringing Polkadot & Kusama to the world!
I left my Software Development job about a year ago to cycle 🚴🏻 a tandem bike from Germany 🇩🇪 to China 🇨🇳 (if you are interested in my trip then check out t.me/rideclub). I enjoy meeting new people through this form of travel and that is a really big reward for me. Cycling on the tandem together is a very trust based and coordinated exercise. Since on this specific bike it is also very easy to chat while riding, it is an incredible way to bond.
After making it to Turkey at the end of 2020, I was forced to take a Winter/Covid break until April 2021. I spent that time learning more about blockchain and cryptocurrencies. I became especially interested in the Kusama and Polkadot projects. I want to do my part in making the world a fairer and more democratic place (through decentralised blockchain technology) for everyone and decided to take it upon myself to spread the word on Polkadot and Kusama wherever I go. I designed a couple of T-shirts to help me with this mission…
Since a month now, I have been back on the road (currently in Olympos, Turkey), wearing them wherever I go. I attract a lot of attention 👀 with my bike and am therefore directly putting these two blockchains in the spotlight for the thousands of people that I pass (🚶🏼🙋🏿👮🏼👷🏼🚴🏾) and get passed by ( 🚙🚐 🏍 🚚🚕🚜 🚌) every day.
People constantly ask me questions about my shirt and I love talking to them about blockchain and cryptocurrencies. I want to continue my mission of bringing this technology to even the most remote places. The next step is to expand my campaign. I have a few ideas in mind:
- Start a sticker trail leaving Polkadot and Kusama logos all along my route
- Broaden my merchandise and organise T-shirts for my future co-riders
